IPTC: Caption The Eastern beach of the isthmus on Vatersay, the southernmost inhabited island of the Wetern Isles off the West coast of Scotland. Vatersay is linked to Barra by a vehicle causeway. There is a campsite and public toilet on the western beach on the sand dunes, with stunning views over the bay and pristine white sandy beach. The Eastern bay was the site of the tragic wreck of the Annie Jane in 1853, where 350 immigrants from Liverpool to Quebec died and are buried in the dunes.
