A very old neg (c1989), when work on the centre columns was only just starting
Getting the range of contrast present in the negative was a real pig to print, involving cutout masks for dodging and burning, preflashing, split grading and whatnot. THANK GOD for digital, RAW, and Photoshop, thats all I have to say! And with printers like the Epson R2400, the output for B&W is excellent too.
(This is still not the best result I could get from the neg- there is detail in the burnt-out roof in the lower left of the circle. It is from a quick scan at default settings and a bit of shadows and highlights tool in PS. Perhaps one day I'll do it properly, but new work is always more interesting!)
